November saw the Australian Historic Road Racing Championship at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth. This is only the fourth time the Historic Competition Motorcycle Club of WA has hosted it so it was definitely worth a look with interstate and international riders.
There were over 150 riders racing everything from a 1934 Velocette to the newest bikes which were 1982 Honda and Suzuki. Some of our Club members made the trek from Albany. I was only able to watch Sundayís races which incidentally ran like clockwork - 28 races in all, each one five laps. It was a credit to the Club and riders that the races flowed so well.
We saw no spills, although a couple of close shaves and some fabulous races. The bikes prepared for the weekend were immaculate and one of the pleasures of this type of meeting is youíre able to wander through the pits chatting to competitors and able to take photos freely.
There were also numerous clubs with bike displays which was very interesting. It was also worth looking at the many bikes parked by spectators. Congratulations to the Historic Competition Motorcycle Club of WA for an excellent weekend.
