Andrew and Sue had dialled in good weather for a run they organised
April 24. 22 bikes with riders and passengers left the Amity Tavern
an interesting ride along Chester Pass Road, then Prideaux Road to
Nanarup. This was the morning tea stop.
Des had been having a bit of trouble with the DKW. It turned
out to be
carbie trouble and when the carbie was stripped the slow speed jet had
broken off, Des used a piece of wire as a make-shift fix and it seemed
to work beautifully - you can’t beat a piece of wire in your toolkit
(and electrical ties).
From Nanarup we rode back into Albany, around Marine Drive to
Frenchmans Bay where we had lunch.
It was the first time I’d taken my ‘62 BMW out with the Steib sidecar attached and after an initial head-shake while slowing down (I tightened the steering damper more to fix it) the outfit rode brilliantly. I was very pleased indeed, although I think Zac (grandson) will prefer it when the screen is up as he was getting blasted by the wind.
It was a great day, thanks Andrew and Sue for organising it and for
Garry Blake for going back-up.
I reckon this is what the Club is about: being able to enjoy motorcycles of all ages and makes in the company of like-minded folks of all ages and makes as well.
