ALBANY VINTAGE & CLASSIC MOTORCYCLE
The Broomehill Show & Shine
A small but enthusiastic
band of starters showed for the long journey to Broomehill for the Aqua Festival
and Bike Show & Shine. At Mt Barker Mike & Gloria Hyland and Mike
Saunders were waiting. After a short chat we headed for Cranbrook where we
stopped for a break and a welcome cup of coffee. We arrived at Broomehill
about 10.30 and lined the bikes up with the others already there.
There were about 2 dozen bikes, about half belonged to Club members. Wes (from
Bremer) was there with his Ducati GT and Barry (from Cuballing) also had
his Triumph on display. There were two interesting trikes, one was Ding Bob's
which was ridden by Gary from Katanning. The other was a K75 BMW brought down
by the blokes from Munich Motorcycles.
We then spent a few relaxing hours strolling around the Show, having lunch
and a couple of drinks. The results of the Motorcycle Show & Shine saw
Clive's Gold Wing get Best Japanese - prize was a Rossi Jacket and I was awarded
runner-up in the Best European with my BMW R69S and scored a Dri-Rider Tank
Bag. Best European was a 1955 BSA Golden Flash, recently restored by a bloke
in Katanning. We then headed home, with the majority heading through Gnowangerup
The scenery looked stunning, particularly with the canola out and the Stirlings
making a picturesque back-drop. Unfortunately Ron had a break-down on his
Triumph and we were forced to leave it in the bush. He returning later to
pick it up. It was still running, but it didn't sound too good, so Ron did
the sensible thing.
Mike and Gloria left us at Kamballup. It was certainly a big ride for the
A10 BSA which went very well.
A great day, great company and great weather.
